Choosing the best life insurance company for your needs

There are many important financial decisions that individuals need to make, but perhaps no financial decision is more important than the choice of the right life insurance company. After all, choosing the right life insurance company will mean that your family will have a solid company standing behind them should the worst happen. Choosing an unreliable or unstable life insurance company could leave your family out in the cold when they need help the most.

That is why it is so important to look at the health of the life insurance company when comparing various policy offers. It is vital that the life insurance company you choose be there for the long run, and that they have the financial assets they need to pay any and all claims they may receive.

While it is not always easy to assess the health of a life insurance company, there are a number of rating services that make this process a little bit easier. Every life insurance company is rated, and it is important to look at those ratings carefully and understand what they need as you shop for the perfect life insurance policy.

It is important to carefully examine each life insurance company you consider, and to compare the policies carefully. It is important to make sure that you are comparing like policies, and choosing a life insurance company you can trust.

There are a number of places to start the search for the perfect life insurance company and the perfect life insurance policy. One of the obvious places to start the search is on the internet. Just about every life insurance company has its own web site, so chances are you will be able to find the life insurance company you need online. In addition, just about every life insurance company with a web site offers potential customers the ability to get an instant quote online, and this makes it even easier to compare rates quickly.

In addition to the life insurance company web site, there are a number of consolidation web sites that provide shoppers with the ability to submit their information once, while having more than one life insurance company respond with a quote. This can be a great way for customers to compare the various life insurance companies and life insurance policies in a short period of time.

No matter what life insurance company you eventually choose, however, the most important thing is to start the shopping process as early as possible. Protecting your family by choosing a quality life insurance company is the responsible thing to do, and your family will thank you and appreciate your thoughtfulness no matter what happens.

An introduction to life insurance

1/5/2005

Hi –

There was a recent article by columnist Scott Burns in the Dallas Morning News that described a university study which showed that the vast majority of American families are significantly underinsured. The study, lead by Professor Laurence J. Kotlikoff, chairman of the economics department at Boston University, had the following conclusions:

• Virtually all households are underinsured;
• Very few are overinsured;
• The most likely to be underinsured are households with younger spouses, ages 22-39 years old;
• Lack of adequate insurance accounts for most of the poverty among widows and widowers; and,
• There was almost no relationship between the amount of insurance people had and the amount they needed.

It is important to note that the researchers are academics. Thery are not life insurance sales representatives or agents. They are not putting a miniature coffin in front of you asking, God forbid, that you imagine dying today or tomorrow. If these researchers concluded we are massively underinsured, it is economics. It isn’t marketing.

The impact of being underinsured can be devastating to your family in the event you died prematurely.

In fact, the most important decision an individual can make to protect the future of their family is the purchase of a life insurance policy. Unfortunately, this is also one of the least understood decisions a person typically makes. There are several different kinds of life insurance available: term life, whole life, variable life, universal life, and various hybrids of these. We have often heard from our clients that they were afraid to talk to an insurance agent about the choices, because they did not want to be SOLD on something. Instead, they wanted information so that they could make a decision that was appropriate to their personal situation – not one that maximized the commission plan available to the life insurance agent.

There are many common questions that arise. What are the various options? How much life insurance do I need? Is there a life insurance calculator available? How long should I make the term length (if I choose term).

Over the course of the next several weeks, we will be adding entries to this site to help you understand your various options and to provide you with some free tools to help you make the proper choices.

If you would like to get a head start on the process, feel free to browse the various help topics at www.1-877-term-direct.com .

We will be back with more in a few days so be sure to check back.
